Getting Around Christchurch

There are so many ways to travel around Christchurch and the region - from hiring a vehicle to journeying by tram, bike, ferry or on foot.

Christchurch City has a great public bus system which services all parts of the city. A central bus station at which most services transfer through is on the corner of Colombo and Lichfield streets. To plan your trip around the city by bus go to Metro Information

To explore the central city you can jump on a tram, punt or bike. The tram takes visitors on a unique experience around the central city. Your tram ticket lasts all day and you can get on and off the tram as many times as you like.  You could enjoy a leisurely journey along the Avon River by punt or canoe or if you want to get more physical - jump on a bike! The Spark bikes are a new transport option, and the first 30 minutes of every ride is free!

If you are looking for transport for trips further afield then there are plenty of operators specialising in fully or partially guided day trips in the Canterbury area.

Whatever your preference, search Christchurch Getting Around to find the quickest, best value or simply the most interesting way to get around.
